Medication Management at Kinsler Psychology

At Kinsler Psychology, we believe in an approach to mental health care that considers the full picture of your emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Medication can be a helpful component of that care for many individuals, especially when combined with talk therapy and lifestyle changes.

What is medication management?

Medication management is the process of evaluating, prescribing, and monitoring psychotropic medications [medications that influence mood, thoughts, or behavior] as part of a treatment plan. These may include antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, mood stabilizers, or other psychiatric medications.

Our licensed providers work closely with you to determine whether medication could benefit your mental health goals, and to help you understand how medication fits within your broader treatment plan.

“While medication can provide symptom relief, it does not necessarily address underlying maladaptive behaviors, and is therefore considered by many clinicians an adjunct to treatment, rather than the primary mode of treatment itself.”
Psychology Today

When is medication appropriate?

Psychotropic medication may be appropriate for individuals experiencing:

  • Persistent depression or anxiety

  • Mood instability

  • Intrusive thoughts or panic attacks

  • Disruptive sleep, eating, or attention patterns

  • Difficulty functioning in daily life despite other supports

Before starting medication, you’ll meet with one of our qualified providers for a thorough evaluation. If medication is recommended, we’ll discuss your options, potential side effects, and what to expect moving forward.

What to expect from medication management?

  • Initial Evaluation: A detailed psychiatric assessment to determine your needs

  • Treatment Planning: Discussion of medication options, expected outcomes, and side effects

  • Collaboration: Coordination with your therapist or primary care provider, if applicable

  • Ongoing Support: Regular follow-up appointments to monitor your response and adjust as needed

Our providers are here to guide and support you throughout your treatment. We emphasize education, collaboration, and informed decision-making this way you're always an active participant in your care.
